Novena

Catholic nine-day devotion

A novena is a Roman Catholic devotion consisting of prayers or services repeated over nine consecutive days, often petitioning a saint or the Virgin Mary for a specific intention.

The practice derives from the nine days the apostles spent in prayer between Christ's ascension and Pentecost.

She made a novena to St. Jude for her father's recovery.
