North Vietnamese

Sixties American foe

North Vietnamese refers to people, things, or military forces from North Vietnam (the Democratic Republic of Vietnam) during the country's division from 1954 to 1975.

The term appears most often in discussions of the Vietnam War: North Vietnamese troops, North Vietnamese negotiators.

Since reunification in 1975, the distinction between North and South Vietnamese has become primarily historical.
