Norbert Wiener

Norbert Wiener (1894–1964) was an American mathematician who founded cybernetics, the study of communication and control in machines and living systems.

A child prodigy who earned his Harvard PhD at eighteen, Wiener developed theories of feedback loops and information that shaped computing, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

His 1948 book *Cybernetics* introduced concepts now fundamental to how we think about systems that regulate themselves.
