Napoleonic wars
French imperial conflicts
The Napoleonic Wars were a series of European conflicts from 1803 to 1815, pitting Napoleon Bonaparte's French Empire against shifting coalitions of European powers including Britain, Russia, Prussia, and Austria.
The wars reshaped European borders, spread revolutionary ideals, and ended with Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo.
His interest in the Napoleonic Wars began with a biography of Wellington.
