MapleStory

MapleStory is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by the South Korean company Nexon, launched in 2003.

Known for its colorful 2D side-scrolling graphics and anime-inspired aesthetic, it became one of the most popular online games worldwide.

Players create characters, complete quests, and fight monsters across a fantasy world called Maple World.

The game pioneered the "freemium" model, offering free gameplay while selling cosmetic items and conveniences: I spent way too much on MapleStory back in middle school.
