Mandingo
Malian ethnic group
Mandingo refers to the Mandinka people of West Africa or their language, part of the broader Mande ethnic group.
In American usage, the term carries a racist sexual stereotype—the hypersexualized Black male—derived from the 1957 novel *Mandingo* and its 1975 film adaptation about enslaved people.
Mandingo fantasy and Mandingo porn perpetuate this fetishization.
The stereotype is offensive, reducing Black men to sexual objects.
