Lilliput

Tiny people's island

Lilliput is a fictional island in Jonathan Swift's *Gulliver's Travels* (1726), inhabited by people roughly six inches tall.

The name has become shorthand for anything tiny or miniature: a Lilliput village of dollhouses.

The adjective Lilliputian describes something diminutive or trivially small-minded: Lilliputian concerns, Lilliputian bureaucrats.
