Brobdingnag

Land of enormity

Brobdingnag is the land of giants in Jonathan Swift's *Gulliver's Travels* (1726), where everything is twelve times human scale.

The word has become an allusive reference to anything of immense size: The new stadium was a Brobdingnag of concrete and steel.

The adjective Brobdingnagian means gigantic, the opposite of Lilliputian.
