Jewish refugees
Fled their homeland
Jewish refugees are people of Jewish heritage or faith who have fled persecution, violence, or discrimination.
The term most often refers to those who escaped Nazi-controlled Europe before and during World War II, or who were expelled from Arab countries after Israel's founding in 1948.
More broadly, it encompasses Jews displaced throughout history by pogroms, forced expulsions, and antisemitic policies: My grandmother came to America as a Jewish refugee from Poland.
