Jesus freak
Overly devout Christian
Jesus freak is slang for someone whose Christian enthusiasm strikes others as excessive or obsessive.
Originally disparaging in the 1970s, applied to young evangelical Christians in the counterculture movement, it has been partly reclaimed by believers who embrace the label: I'm a Jesus freak and proud of it.
The term can be affectionate among Christians or dismissive from outsiders.
