Hacienda

Latin American ranch

A hacienda is a large estate or plantation, especially in Spanish-speaking regions of the Americas.

The term evokes colonial-era properties with agricultural land, livestock, and often a grand main house: The family's hacienda had been producing wine for generations.

In modern use, hacienda sometimes describes any substantial rural property with Spanish architectural character.
