Goldilocks planet

Not too extreme

A Goldilocks planet orbits its star at a distance where temperatures allow liquid water to exist—not too hot, not too cold.

The term comes from the fairy tale where Goldilocks seeks porridge that's "just right." Earth is the only confirmed Goldilocks planet, though astronomers search for others that might support life: Kepler discovered several Goldilocks planets in distant solar systems.
