GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program, a free open-source software application for photo editing and digital art.
It offers capabilities similar to commercial programs like Photoshop: I use GIMP for all my graphic design work. (Lowercase gimp is decorative cord or slang for a limping person.)
