GPL

Free software license

GPL stands for General Public License, a software license created by the Free Software Foundation.

It allows users to run, study, share, and modify software freely, but requires that derivative works also be released under the GPL—a provision called "copyleft." The project is released under the GPL.

Linux and many open-source programs use GPL licensing.
