Formica
Wood ant classification
Formica is a brand name for laminate material used on countertops, tabletops, and other surfaces.
The hard, durable sheets come in many colors and patterns, often imitating wood or stone.
Though a trademark, the name is frequently used generically for any similar laminate: The kitchen had those old Formica counters from the 1970s. (Lowercase formica refers to a genus of ants.)
