Styrofoam

Squeaky packing material

Styrofoam is a trademark of the Dow Chemical Company for extruded polystyrene foam, used primarily as building insulation.

The trademarked product is blue and denser than the white foam cups and containers commonly called "styrofoam" in casual speech.

Dow has repeatedly tried to clarify this distinction with little success. (Lowercase styrofoam is the generic term for foam plastic.)
