checkout line
Store exit wait
A checkout line is the queue of customers waiting to pay at a store.
The term refers both to the physical lane with its conveyor belt and register, and to the people standing in it: The checkout lines were brutal on Black Friday.
Also called checkout lane or simply checkout.
