Epsom

English racecourse town

Epsom is a town in Surrey, England, known historically for its mineral springs.

The town lends its name to Epsom salts, a magnesium sulfate compound originally obtained from the local spring water and used for bathing, as a laxative, and in gardening.

Epsom is also home to Epsom Downs racecourse, where the Derby has been run since 1780.
