Epsom salts
Magnesium sulfate compound
Epsom salts are magnesium sulfate crystals, named after a town in England where they were first distilled from mineral springs.
Dissolved in warm water, they're used for soaking sore muscles: an Epsom salt bath after the marathon.
They also serve as a laxative and have various household and gardening applications.
Sometimes singular: Epsom salt.
