Elixir

Valim's concurrent language

Elixir is a liquid preparation believed to have special powers—originally a substance that could transmute base metals into gold or grant eternal life.

Medieval alchemists sought the elixir of life.

The word now applies to any cure-all remedy or, more loosely, to sweetened medicinal solutions: a cough elixir.

Figuratively, an elixir is anything that invigorates or transforms: Coffee is my morning elixir.
