Edsel

Failed 1950s automobile

Edsel was a brand of automobile produced by Ford Motor Company from 1958 to 1960.

The car was heavily marketed but failed commercially, becoming synonymous with spectacular product failures: The new software launch was a total Edsel.

The name, originally that of Henry Ford's son, now serves as shorthand for an expensive, overhyped flop.
