Doric column
Fluted stone support
A Doric column is the simplest and sturdiest of the three classical Greek architectural orders.
It has no base, rising directly from the floor, with a fluted shaft and a plain, cushion-shaped capital.
Doric columns supported the Parthenon and many Greek temples: The museum entrance featured massive Doric columns.
