DNA typing
Identifying by genes
DNA typing is a laboratory technique that identifies individuals by analyzing unique patterns in their genetic material.
Used in criminal investigations, paternity testing, and identifying remains, it compares DNA samples to establish matches or rule out connections: DNA typing linked the suspect to the crime scene.
Also called DNA fingerprinting or DNA profiling.
