DNA extraction
Harvesting hereditary material
DNA extraction is the process of isolating DNA from cells or tissues, typically by breaking open cell membranes and separating the genetic material from proteins and other cellular components.
It's a fundamental technique in molecular biology, forensics, and genetic testing: The lab performed DNA extraction on the blood sample.
The extracted DNA can then be analyzed, sequenced, or amplified.
