Cornell University
Big Red school
Cornell University is a private research university in Ithaca, New York, founded in 1865.
One of eight Ivy League schools, it's distinctive for combining traditional liberal arts with practical fields—its founder Ezra Cornell envisioned "an institution where any person can find instruction in any study." Cornell includes both private colleges and state-supported statutory colleges, an unusual arrangement among elite universities.
