Cartesian space
Grid-based geometric framework
Cartesian space is a coordinate system where points are located by their distances from perpendicular axes—the familiar x-y grid of school geometry, extended to three dimensions (x, y, z) or more.
Named for philosopher René Descartes, who unified algebra and geometry by letting equations describe shapes.
