Capone

Prohibition-era bootlegger boss

Capone refers to Al Capone (1899–1947), the American gangster who dominated organized crime in Chicago during Prohibition.

His name has become shorthand for a ruthless crime boss or mob figure: He fancies himself some kind of Capone.

The association with bootlegging, violence, and eventual downfall on tax evasion charges makes Capone a cultural touchstone for glamorized criminality.
