Bridge of Spies
Cold War exchange
Bridge of Spies is a 2015 film directed by Steven Spielberg, depicting the Cold War prisoner exchange of captured American U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers for Soviet spy Rudolf Abel.
The exchange took place on Berlin's Glienicke Bridge in 1961—a span connecting East and West that earned the nickname "Bridge of Spies" for hosting such exchanges between the superpowers.
