The Green Mile

Execution hallway nickname

The Green Mile is a 1996 Stephen King novel and its 1999 film adaptation, set on death row in a 1930s Louisiana prison.

The title refers to the corridor inmates walk to the electric chair, so called because of its green linoleum floor.

The phrase has come to represent any final journey toward an inevitable end: It felt like walking the green mile to the boss's office.
