Cast Away

Deserted island survivor

Cast away means thrown aside, abandoned, or rejected.

A castaway is someone shipwrecked or stranded on a remote shore: The castaways survived on coconuts and rainwater.

To cast away can mean to discard something as worthless or to waste: He cast away his inheritance on gambling.

The phrase carries overtones of both physical displacement and social rejection.
