Apollo-Soyuz
Orbital détente mission
Apollo-Soyuz was a joint space mission between the United States and Soviet Union in 1975, the first international crewed spaceflight.
American and Soviet spacecraft docked in orbit, and astronauts and cosmonauts shook hands in space during the Cold War.
The mission symbolized détente and cooperation between superpowers: The Apollo-Soyuz handshake marked a thaw in space-race tensions.
