Guru Granth Sahib

Sikh holy book

The Guru Granth Sahib is the central scripture of Sikhism, treated not merely as a holy book but as a living spiritual guide.

Sikhs regard it as their eternal guru—the final successor to the ten human gurus who founded and shaped the faith.

The text contains hymns and teachings from Sikh gurus and other saints, composed in various languages including Punjabi.

In gurdwaras (Sikh temples), it is accorded elaborate respect: housed under canopies, fanned ceremonially, and put to rest each night.
