2x2
Smallest square matrix
A 2x2 (said "two by two") describes something arranged in two rows and two columns—a grid of four elements.
In design and business, a 2x2 matrix plots variables on two axes to create four quadrants for analysis: The consultant drew a 2x2 with urgency on one axis and importance on the other.
The term also describes dimensions: a 2x2 photo, a 2x2 table.
In construction, a two-by-four is more common than a two-by-two.
