wrist lock
Submission hold technique
A wrist lock is a grappling technique that controls or subdues an opponent by bending, twisting, or hyperextending the wrist joint.
Common in martial arts like judo, jiu-jitsu, and aikido, wrist locks are also used by law enforcement for restraint: The officer applied a wrist lock and guided him to the ground.
The technique exploits the joint's limited range of motion to cause pain or force compliance.
