wild geranium
Purple forest bloom
Wild geranium is a North American woodland plant with pink or lavender flowers, common in eastern forests and often cultivated in shade gardens.
The name distinguishes it from the domesticated geraniums sold at nurseries, which belong to a different genus entirely: The wild geraniums are blooming along the trail.
