weightlifting belt
Gym torso support
A weightlifting belt is a wide, stiff belt worn around the lower torso during heavy lifts.
It provides support by giving the abdominal muscles something to brace against, increasing intra-abdominal pressure and stabilizing the spine: I always wear my weightlifting belt for squats and deadlifts.
Most are leather or nylon, four to six inches wide.
