webapps

Online software tools

Webapps—also written as web apps or web applications—are software programs that run in a web browser rather than being installed on a device.

Unlike traditional desktop applications, webapps are accessed through URLs and require an internet connection: Gmail is a webapp, I use a webapp to track my expenses.

The line between webapps and websites has blurred, with many sites offering app-like functionality.
