PC software

Desktop application suite

PC software is programs designed to run on personal computers, as distinct from applications for phones, tablets, or specialized systems.

The term emerged in the 1980s when desktop computing became widespread and often implies traditional installed programs rather than web-based applications: I prefer PC software to cloud-based tools.
