water-repellent

Resists liquid absorption

Water-repellent describes materials or coatings that resist absorption of water, causing droplets to bead up and roll off rather than soak in: a water-repellent jacket, water-repellent spray for shoes.

Unlike waterproof, water-repellent allows that some moisture may eventually penetrate under sustained exposure.
