wallplug

Wall electrical socket

A wallplug is a plastic or fiber anchor inserted into a drilled hole in masonry or drywall, allowing screws to grip securely in materials that would otherwise crumble: The shelf kept falling until I used wallplugs.

In British usage, wallplug can also mean an electrical outlet or the plug inserted into one.
