Reading the room
A vibe check is an informal assessment of someone's mood, energy, or general state of being: Just doing a vibe check—you okay?
The phrase emerged from internet slang, where it can range from a sincere check-in to a playful or ironic challenge.
To vibe check someone is to evaluate whether their energy fits the situation.
