twilight sedation
Awake but unaware
Twilight sedation is a state of reduced consciousness induced by medication, leaving patients drowsy and relaxed but not fully unconscious.
Used for minor surgical and dental procedures, it dulls pain and anxiety while allowing patients to breathe independently and sometimes respond to commands.
Most patients remember little or nothing afterward: I was under twilight sedation for the colonoscopy.
