triphase

Three-phase power system

Triphase means having three phases.

The term appears most often in electrical engineering, where triphase (or three-phase) current uses three alternating currents offset by 120 degrees, providing more efficient power transmission than single-phase systems: triphase motors, triphase generators.

In other technical contexts, triphase can describe any three-stage process or system.
