trick-or-treater

Costumed candy collector

A trick-or-treater is a person, typically a child, who goes door to door on Halloween in costume, asking for candy with the phrase "trick or treat." The term captures the participant rather than the activity: The sidewalks were crowded with trick-or-treaters.

Adults supervising children or joining in costume may also be called trick-or-treaters.
