mall Santa
December retail Claus
A mall Santa is a person hired to portray Santa Claus at shopping centers during the Christmas season, sitting on a throne while children line up to share their gift wishes and pose for photos.
The role requires a red suit, white beard (real or fake), and patience with excited or crying kids.
Mall Santas range from dedicated performers who stay in character to bored seasonal workers earning extra holiday cash: The mall Santa asked if she'd been good this year.
