train track
Where trains roll
Train tracks are the parallel steel rails on which trains run, mounted on wooden or concrete crossties.
The term usually appears in the plural even when referring to a single line: We walked along the train tracks.
Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks means coming from a poor neighborhood—towns were often divided by rail lines, with wealthier areas on one side.
