A tornado warning is an official alert that a tornado has been sighted or detected by radar in the immediate area.
Unlike a tornado watch, which indicates conditions favorable for tornadoes, a warning means the threat is imminent and people should take shelter immediately: A tornado warning was issued for the county at 3:15 p.m.
