Radio clock cue
A time signal is a broadcast tone or series of tones indicating the exact time, traditionally used for synchronizing clocks and watches.
Radio stations have long transmitted time signals at regular intervals: At the tone, the time will be twelve noon exactly.
The practice dates to the era before digital devices kept accurate time automatically.
