tikkun olam
Healing the world
Tikkun olam is a Hebrew phrase meaning "repair of the world," used in Jewish thought to describe humanity's shared responsibility to heal and improve society.
In contemporary usage, it often refers to social justice and charitable work: She volunteers at the food bank as part of her commitment to tikkun olam.
The concept has moved beyond strictly religious contexts into broader progressive activism. (Also spelled Tikkun Olam when capitalized.)
