thrushes
Bluebirds and relatives
Thrushes is the plural of thrush, a family of songbirds known for their melodious calls.
The American robin is a thrush, as are nightingales and bluebirds.
Thrush is also a fungal infection causing white patches in the mouth or vagina—a different word that happens to share the spelling.
The thrushes were singing at dawn.
